The blue sorting letters above that list enable you to find the last name of a pioneer quickly. By clicking on a pioneer's name, you will access a page containing an enlarged copy of their portrait accompanied by information on the photographer/photographic studio, the sitter, and the portrait. To eliminate unnecessary duplication, all portraits of women are filed under the women’s final acknowledged name, and all their previously acknowledged names are listed as cross references to their final acknowledged name. Also, an image of the backside of all portraits is included unless it is blank or contains only an accession number.
