Name: Jonathon Foster Hubbell

Description: In this head-and-shoulders cabinet card portrait, Jonathon Foster Hubbell appears as a middle-aged man. He looks off into the distance, imparting a stoic and somber demeanor. He is dressed in a dark, sack jacket and matching vest. His shirt is also dark but is topped with a large, white, curved collar. His hairline is receding, and he sports a salt-and-pepper Shenendoah beard.

Biographical Note:

Family Affiliation: Jonathon Foster Hubbell was the son of Philena Buck Hubbell; husband of Mary Magdalene Maxey Hubbell; and father to Petaluma doctor, Ruth Philena Hubbell Huffman.

Description, front:

Description, back: Handwritten in cursive in black ink along the top edge of the card is, “J. F. Hubbell.” Below this, handwritten in green ink is, “Born 1830”. The photography studio’s imprint appears in purple ink in the center. Along the bottom edge handwritten in cursive in black ink is, “Property of Alice Hubbell.”

Date: 1880- 1898

Condition: Both sides of this card are soiled.
